Executive Director

As Executive Director, Diane Contreras provides strategic leadership for Casa Esperanza’s programs, operations, and organizational growth. Since assuming her role in 2023, she has strengthened the agency’s capacity to serve women and children experiencing homelessness while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and hope.

Diane brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership and management experience dedicated to serving vulnerable populations throughout Kern County. Recognized for her collaborative leadership style and deep understanding of homelessness, she has successfully developed programs, built strategic partnerships, and championed innovative solutions that help individuals and families achieve long-term stability. Her commitment to servant leadership is rooted in the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to rebuild their life with dignity and purpose.

Prior to joining Casa Esperanza, Diane served as Director of Operations for Flood Bakersfield Ministries, where she played a key role in expanding services for individuals experiencing homelessness. She also served as Chair of the Bakersfield-Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative’s Lived Experience Advisory Board, helping shape regional strategies that elevate the voices of those with firsthand experience and strengthen community-wide responses to homelessness.

A native of Arvin and lifelong Kern County resident, Diane earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Fresno Pacific University. Her deep connection to the community, combined with decades of leadership experience, continues to guide Casa Esperanza’s mission of empowering women and children to move from homelessness to stability, independence, and lasting hope.
